United receives a huge fee for summer target

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait until their side gets going in the summer transfer window.

The men from Old Trafford are widely expected to spend some serious money in the summer window and it now just remains to be seen who they manage to bring in.

Indeed, The Daily Star has referred to Torino striker Andrea Belotti as a United target in a deal that would really capture the imagination.

The young Italian has scored goals for fun for the Turin side but it does appear as though United will have to fork out a huge amount of cash if they are to sign him.

Indeed, as quoted by Gazetta dello Sport, Torino president Urbano Cairo has said:

“I’m not thinking about selling Belotti.

“Belotti is my player, we only renewed his contract recently. Our objective is to keep him.

“After that, there is a release clause that would make me obliged to sell him, providing someone came in with €100m (£87m) from abroad.”

United, then, will have to pay £87 million if they want the striker and even for a club as rich as them that is a huge fee to be thinking about paying.

In this market, though, our landlord wouldn’t be surprised to see it being paid.
