Man charged to Court for N100,000 theft

Sunday Enia, a 20- year-old man, who allegedly broke into a shop and stole N100, 000,  was on Friday brought before an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State.

The accused, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.

He, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.

The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum.

He said the surety should provide evidence of a year tax payment to the government.

Earlier, Police Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused with another man still at large
committed the offences on June 2 at Ayeka Market in Okitipupa.

According to him, the accused conspired with his accomplice to burgle a shop belonging to Mrs Rachael Odola, the complainant.

“The accused stole N100, 000 belonging to Odola meant for the purchase of some goods in the shop.”

The offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 411 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

Further hearing in the case has been fixed for July 6.
