Arsenal should consider moving this two defenders-agreed

It really has been a period of uncertainty for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern over the last couple of months.

And whilst Arsene Wenger’s signing of a new two year contract has eased some of the uncertainty, the fans in the Tavern are still undecided over whether or not if Wenger is the right man to take the club forward for the next couple of seasons. Alongside this, the futures of key men such as Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are still up in the air and some clarity around their futures would not go a miss among the resident Gunners.

It has not all been bad for Arsenal though and they have been active early in the summer transfer window with the signing of Saed Kolisinac from German side, Schalke 04. The Bosnian international can play at either left wing back or the left side of a defensive three, which will suit Arsenal’s style of play. Although this transfer will seemingly improve the Gunners’ defensive line, our landlord has stated that Wenger needs to sign at least another defender in order to really strengthen a position that has lacked leadership and direction in past seasons.

Here are two options he has outlined in order to strengthen Arsenal’s back line…

There are many rumours from our punters floating around about Manolas and our landlord has tried his best to make sense of them all.

Some thought at the end of the January transfer window that Manolas would be joining Arsenal this summer however some think that the Greek defender is on his way to Italian side, Inter Milan.

Either way, Manolas would be a wonderful signing for the Gunners and really add to a back line which has been the epitome of inconsistency throughout the last season.

With no real interest being shown by any clubs in Romagnoli, our landlord believes Arsene Wenger should pounce and bring the Italian to the Emirates.

The AC Milan centre back is comfortable with the ball at his feet and would fit well into Arsenal’s back three and at 22 years of age, there is alot of time for Romagnoli to develop whilst at the Emirates which may well see him form a trio with Calum Chambers and Rob Holding in the future.

The Gunners in the Tavern aren’t as sure as our landlord on Romagnoli due to the possibility that Milan will want to make much of the £25million they paid Roma for his services back in 2015, meaning that he may come with a hefty price tag.
