Amezon Boys, Shade Queens are MRS Kids’ Cup champions

Amezon Boys of Ikoyi emerged champions of the 5th edition of the MRS Kid’s Cup after coming from behind to beat Oluyole Babes 2-1 in the final decided at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.

The MRS Kid’s Cup which featured 32 boy’s teams and 32 girl’s teams was organised by National Youth Soccer Association (NYSA) and fully sponsored by MRS Oil Nigeria PLC.

Dopemu United of Dopemu defeated Oji Babes 4-1 on penalties in the third place match decided earlier in the day.

In the Girls category, Shade Queens of Ikorodu emerged victorious after overcoming hard fighting Sunrise United of Ketu 2-1 in a keenly contested final.

Managing Director, MRS Oil Nig. Plc, Mr. Andrew Gbodume, thanked God for successfully hosting the MRS Kid’s Cup for five years consecutively. He pointed out that the MRS Kid’s Cup started in 2013 as part of their corporate social responsibility in youths and sports. He also stated that the youth have put Nigeria on the map internationally through music, sports and entertainment and that they chose to focus on the sports aspect through football.

The high point of the event was the presentation of a N350,000 cheque each to winners of the competition, while the second and third placed teams got N250,000 and N200,000 respectively. Students also went home with plenty of refreshments and goodie bags courtesy of the organizers MRS, who promised more improvement in the coming editions.
